White quartz

Rock Crystal

White crystal is a type of crystal in the crystal family, which is transparent and opaque. Fully transparent crystals are also known as colorless crystals. Mineralogy belongs to the quartz family, and the main chemical component is silicon dioxide. Pure natural white crystal has a silicon dioxide content of up to 99.999% and a chemical formula of SiO2. Its natural crystal shape is hexagonal, known as the “crystal king”.

Transparent and pure white crystal is one of the magical gifts of the earth. White crystal is the most widely distributed and abundant among the entire crystal population. Generally speaking, white crystal is quartz, but from our perspective, opaque ones are called quartz, while transparent ones are called white crystal. Most white crystals contain substances such as ice cracks, clouds, and so on. Fully transparent white crystals, unless they are small in size (directly cut and ground from large raw ores), are more expensive and there are many counterfeit products on the market. So be careful when purchasing.

When selecting white crystal, the surface gloss of natural crystal is often “light blue” and contains “inclusions”, some of which are bright chips. Artificial crystals appear very pale and transparent on the surface, with some containing regular oval shaped flocs, which are the generation layer of artificial crystals. Artificially synthesized crystals are often used for bead or flat processing, such as pen shaped pendants, ultrasonic engraved Buddha pendant, and so on. The “crystal glass” and “melted crystal” have no inner packaging at all.

Weight identification
Natural crystals are usually heavier, and natural crystals of the same size can be heavier.
Transparent identification
Natural crystals have birefringence. Under polarizing glasses, natural crystals display changes in brightness and darkness every 90 degrees of rotation, and the light below can penetrate through. And the synthetic crystal dimmed, and the light below couldn’t penetrate. Crystal glass and melted crystal are even more dull and lifeless.
