Sugilite, also known as the “Stone of the Millennium”, is a lucky birthday stone for February in the Gregorian calendar. Sujishi is a rare gemstone, known as the ‘South African national gemstone’, produced in small rock beads of syenite. Its main component is silicon oxide, and it contains various metal elements such as potassium, sodium, iron, and lithium. In 1944, a Japanese oil explorer named Mr Kenichi Sugi discovered it, so it was named after him, but it was not until 1979, due to the collapse of some parts of the Wessel manganese mine, that South Africa discovered sapphire of gem quality.
